where it started

For many of us, as an adult, reading is intuitive. But not as intuitive to teach and pass along to our children. From the time our girls were babies, my husband and I tried to incorporate books into our family’s daily routine. Always having plenty of books around the house to flip through and read, along with a consistent reading-before-bed routine. However, as schedules grew busier and tablets became more interesting to our children, we had a tough time keeping books in days. 

Booker was born the day we realized how captivated our 6-year-old daughter was by her fairy garden. She played for hours and had countless stories of what she learned from the fairies. If you’re going to learn about worms and rocks from fairies, why not books? The next day, Booker the book turtle, joined our garden. And the rest is happy reading hisotry.

 KIM is a mom to three busy girls, a wife, entrepreneur, brand strategist, and now, author. Her debut work, Booker Brings, was inspired by a book-reading ritual she introduced when her oldest daughter entered kindergarten. Over the years, Booker and his books have positively transformed her family’s life, and is still a part of the family today. Always there, serving as reading encouragement, book-sharer, and creative outlet. Kim has her Master's Degree from Northwestern University (MS Medill IMC, ‘05) and lives in the western suburbs of Chicago with her family and Spanish Water Dog, Ajax.
